The Space In Between: How Vivi Leigh London Was Born

There I was — standing in front of my wardrobe, trying to solve an impossible equation.
What to wear?
It sounds simple, but any woman knows it rarely is.
I was working from home that day. But later, I had a date.
Two completely different energies. Two versions of myself.
And somehow, I was supposed to dress for both.
Then my eyes landed on my lingerie drawer.
And that’s when the real problem revealed itself.
There was nothing for this in-between space.
I wasn’t going to sit in my Agent Provocateur lingerie through Zoom meetings — no one needs that kind of performance at noon.
But the comfortable options? The soft cotton basics?
They felt lifeless. Not something I wanted to step into before meeting someone for dinner.
There was softness.
There was sexiness.
But where was the space between comfort and eros?
The tension is everywhere
What began as a small frustration with my wardrobe became, slowly, a mirror for something much bigger.
In fashion.
In culture.
In how women are taught to occupy space.
We are offered two extremes:
Minimalist basics that feel safe, but uninspired.
Or hyper-sexualised fantasy pieces that perform, but rarely reflect how we actually feel inside our own bodies.
But where was the middle?
The place where softness is not weakness, and sensuality isn’t performance.
Where beauty doesn’t shout — it whispers.
Where lingerie isn’t about who’s looking, but about how you feel inside your own skin.
How Vivi Leigh London was born
My background is in luxury fashion. I trained at London College of Fashion (MA in Design and Technology), and worked with couture houses, specialising in the technical art of creative pattern cutting and design.
But I knew I didn’t want to build another brand chasing trends or cheap fantasy.
I wanted to create pieces that felt personal. Intimate.
That honoured the body without demanding it be for someone else.
Lingerie as a ritual of self-respect.
Sustainable. Slow. Sensual. Honest.
Vivi Leigh London was born out of this in-between space —
where comfort meets eros.
Where feminine, doesn't mean lace and frills.
Where women dress not to perform, but to return to themselves.
🎥 Founder’s Note — August is Our Birthday Month!
It’s been two years since I hit publish on the Vivi Leigh London website — and it’s been a wild ride.
In this slightly awkward first-ever video, I’m stepping in front of the camera to say hi, share why I started this brand, and offer a small thank-you gift for supporting my slow, sensual vision of lingerie.
I don’t run sales or discounts at any other time of year, but to celebrate this milestone and thank you for being here, I’m offering an exclusive birthday gift for our community.
