Four bra styles. Two colours. Thirty looks — and we ran out of time before we could shoot them all.
This is not just a lingerie collection. It is a system.
The Idea
Most lingerie brands sell sets. A bra, a brief, a matching moment — complete, finite, done. Vivi Leigh London is being built in a different way.
The idea, from the very beginning, was freedom. The freedom to choose comfortable, beautiful everyday underwear and build on it — adding a harness, a suspender, a choker — depending on the mood, the occasion, the version of herself she wants to inhabit today. Intimate dressing for a Tuesday. A statement look for a Saturday night. The same bralette, an entirely different woman.
The pieces are not just lingerie. They are accessories to each other.
The Design Challenge
Designing a modular collection is not straightforward.
Every piece has to work with every other piece — not just aesthetically, but physically. I think about where the elastics will meet on the body. A bra worn with a harness: does the strapping create friction or harmony? A suspender with a high-waisted brief: do the waistbands fight each other? A choker harness over a bralette: does the hardware complement or compete?
These questions have to be answered before a single piece is made. I test every combination on my stand. I map every possible pairing. And I hold the entire system in my head at once — because if one piece doesn't work with the others, the whole philosophy falls apart.
It is the hardest and most invisible part of what I do.
Mapping It Out
Before the shoot I mapped every look on a moodboard — every bra, every brief, every harness configuration, every colour pairing. Black on black. Blush on blush. Black harness over blush bralette. Harness worn as a choker only. Suspender without a brief. Waist harness over everything.
We allocated one day. By the afternoon it was clear that was going to a challenge for time. Changing takes time — not just the physical changing, but the reconfiguring of a modular piece that can be worn six different ways. By the end, everyone was exhausted. The images were exactly what I had wanted.
Raluca
I call her Angel.
There is something in her energy — a grace, a stillness — that is genuinely rare. She is exceptionally beautiful and carries it with ease that cannot be learned. Every combination she stepped into, she made feel intentional. Like it had always been that way.
She is amazing.
Why It Matters
There is a specific problem with selling modular lingerie online.
In a boutique, a stylist can pull pieces together in front of you. You can see the combinations, understand how they relate. Online, you look at one product at a time, in isolation, trying to imagine what it might become with something else.
This shoot was the answer to that problem. Every look is shoppable. Every combination exists in the collection now. You do not have to imagine it.
The Freedom
A woman can buy a bralette today. Come back next season and find a harness that works with it. Add a suspender the season after. Build, evolve, expand — on her terms, in her own time, for whatever she needs the look to be.
That is not how lingerie is usually made. It is exactly how it should be.
